I left to head down to Cali yesterday morning. Of course the day I choose to leave, the weather is absolute garbage all through Washington AND Oregon. I drove through rain, snow, and hail…love that for me. Anyways, after 7 hours I let my co-pilot take over so I could chill. Due to weather, did not get to stop a bunch of places but once I hit California I was determined.
First stop was Crescent City. Walked along the path with Sadie girl and just admired the waves and my surroundings. It was pretty chilly but didn’t stop me from walking up the pier and just soaking in the views. I really never get tired of the West Coast. Even now, the sun just set over the water and the sky is full of pinks and blues. It’s incredible.
OH! I can’t forget to mention how HUGE Redwood trees are. Driving through the forest/state park was just breathtaking. Between the fogs that seep over the giant green trees, the rocky walls, occasional waterfalls, and rapid rivers… I just sat in silence taking it all in. Nature is so special to me, it reminds me that there is so much more to life than we give credit for. It really humbles you.
The night ended about 2 hours north of San Fransisco. I slept maybe 4 hours but I was so excited to FINALLY see the Golden Gate Bridge that I got up at 4 am and started driving again. We spent about an hour or two in SF. Sadie got to walk up and down the path underneath the bridge. I couldn’t get over it, I was in awe. It quickly made it to the top of my recommendations list. The area was so beautiful, San Fran feels like an entirely different world honestly.
Once the exploring was over, I hit a “ok I’m ready to be there now” zone. So since we were 6 hours from the destination I just pushed through. The drive was really cool, you could see the change on climate as we slowly made our way south. Giants trees, changed to palm trees. All the green turned to deserts, Hills, and mountains. My family drove it as a kid but I’m glad I got to experience it as an adult because WOW.
We finally made it to Chino Hills! If you have driven in California, I’m sure you can imagine how INSANE the drivers are. I learned one crazy fact on my drive, the only thing that slows a Californian down in this state is rain! Not construction, not cops doing radar, just freaking droplets of water man. My road rage was in full “F bomb” mode today. But I made it safe and sound. Now Sadie and I are happily relaxing by the pool where I plan to be the next 2-3 weeks! Whatever adventures we do, I’ll blog about. Stay tuned!!
PS, you already know I indulged in animal style burger and fries from In N Out
