So Wednesday I got a text from one of my closest friends, Naomi! She told me she was in town for her fiancés sisters rehearsal dinner and wedding. I’m obviously thrilled, we both thought I’d be gone for work but I’m not. So we decided to do a spontaneous day trip in Seattle. Her fiancés sister also, so generously, extended an invitation for me to go to her rehearsal dinner!
So I set my alarm, wake up. After sleeping like absolute garbage because like a 5 year old I was too excited to sleep! So I get around and drive to Bremerton and have 20 minutes until the ferry leaves. I go to park and I forgot it’s a week day and people park for work commuting in my normal parking lot. I PANIC. Finally find a spot, go to pay and it asks for my license number and spot number. I freeze up and suddenly forget since I’m in a time crunch my anxiety made me black out momentarily. So I run back take a pic of spot and number, get the parking paid for, and I sprint to the ferry. Just as I walk up the doors closed and they lifted the walk on and started leaving. Tragic. So of course the next ferry isn’t for another 2.5 hours bc the 8:45 is the last “work commute” ferry.
Next step: I call my friend and she’s like well that’s okay, just pack a dress and come to the rehearsal dinner with us. So I drive back home, back a bag, chill with Sadie. Then decide, if I might stay the night in Seattle I should be dropped off. So my grandma takes me and I arrive 25 mins early this time since I don’t have to deal with parking. And I successfully make the 11:10 am ferry! I listen to my podcast and finally arrive in Seattle!
I meet up with Naomi, it’s a beautiful day. Sunny and 60. We decide to drop my stuff off at her hotel and go out to explore. So we find out way to a bar! It was the pikes place bar and grill! They had a bottle of champagne for mimosas for $20 so we decided to go for it! It was a blast. Her fiancé was slightly worried it would end up like last time her and I had mimosas… but last time was bottomless and we had 7 bottles…. It’s fine…… we were good though!
We drink our stuff, eat some lunch, and head back to the hotel! She does my make up and hers so we can be ready for this rehearsal dinner. Once we are ready we hang and then head for the rehearsal. Having a non Washingtonion drive on the highway here… terrifying.
Luckily we make it to the rehearsal dinner alive. I questioned it for a minute. Once we go in we help set up some stuff for the rehearsal dinner and they all start practicing for the wedding. Meanwhile Naomi and I grab our drink tickets and head to the bar. I instantly become friends with the bartender and I’m like do I have to use 2 tickets for a double, he said for me no. So I got doubles all night, he knew when I walked up with a drink ticket what was up.
The dinner rehearsal was so fun! It had a perfect view of Seattle at the restaurant. It was really beautiful. We listened to some speeches and had dinner. I still was in shock they were kind enough to invite me to tag along. Half way through the party, the bride came and asked me if I’d like to come to the wedding since someone got covid and couldn’t make it. I couldn’t believe how kind the family was to take me in like that.
So we have a great night, now fast forward to wedding day. I woke up and was unsure about going because I just felt like maybe I was intruding. But after some convincing I decided I’d go. Naomi let me borrow a dress and did my make up like the queen she is. We had a blast getting ready.
The bride and bridesmaids look fantastic. I felt a little weird being around the group while they did photos and stuff. Especially since it was such a last minute thing inviting me, so now I’m here at the bar drinking my vodka water until it’s time for the wedding to start.
Over all, it was a fun and spontaneous trip to Seattle and spending with one of my dear friends made it even better. Who knew a day trip would turn into a rehearsal dinner and last minute wedding. Cheers to that.
