Okay, so I finally got to go on the trip I’ve been dreaming of for years. Covid postponed it as it did for so many things & people all over the world. ANYWAYS, I want to cover Athens first… which at this point feels like a long ago memory. It was incredible, the people were so kind.
Chapter Greece: My cousin and I ended up going out after a day of exploring the city with grandma! We found a bar and made friends with our lovely bartender and a waitresses who are now my IG friends. We did shots with them and enjoyed the most incredible margaritas! We hungout there for a little too long, then went to a rooftop bar. And this point, I had to KO bc I was not going to handle another drink. My cousin however…. That is an entire story on its own.
Dustin’s adventure in Athens… he went back to the patio bar after taking me to the hotel so I didn’t die.. then did more shots, back to the rooftop patio. Met someone with the family last name “Bollinger” got invited to their wedding. Then found a bar that had a rave going on. Lastly. The taxi driver (aka potential “pimp”) took him to a strip club and he was like hellll no I’m not paying for this I want to go home. When he told us this the next morning, my grandma determined he needs a chaperone (aka me). So this takes us to our cruise.
Chapter Cruise life: well, let’s just say I was known as “karaoke girl” and Dustin was known as “Dustin!!! Drink package guy!!!” Everyone on the ship called grandma, grandma. Our table mates are our cousins now. Every bartender knew our drink order when we walked up. It was fun but definitely a crazy time. I stayed up the entire night hanging with people and then started my day… ‘‘twas brutal but well worth it. Also, British guys are more polite than American men I’ve learned… HOWEVER I adore my American men (sort of). Idk if you know this but rugby players are it, in London. They told me. I plan to learn the ins and outs of the sport now. They were super fun and had incredible personalities. It’s sort of insane how we made friends on the cruise. On my trip I think I exchanged IG with maybe 8-10 people I actually want to keep in touch with! From pool time, dinner, bar hopping, karaoke, and the nightclub.. I was so content and that is the life I was born to live. Next cruise will be planned soon!
Chapter excursions: grandma wanted to do them for Dustin and I to experience but omg drinking all night then going off to explore definitely taught me that mama didn’t raise no bitch. This trip was NOT for the weak. However, my liver and kidneys probably disagree… the sites were amazing but hearing someone talk for hours about the cities when you’re hungover, not it for me. My favorite excursion was one where we went all around in Montenegro and I got to swim in ice cold water. I think it shocked my body like an ice bath and I was ready to go after that!
Chapter cruise cousins: OMG they are our family, I’ll be visiting them and going to Disney world soon bc their daughter is my bestfriend now, we are the first bump queens. The mom and dad (you know who you are but i don’t wanna share your name in my blog without permission) were awesome! We hungout daily by the pool, the bars, karaoke, etc. it was honestly the best.
Chapter karaoke: look, you know your girl loves to sing my mediocre voice away. The cocktail waitresses told me I was amazing and wanted me to sing daily. I did get some haters though, ok only one but I think it’s bc her husbands were nice to me which I guess I can understand… whatever, shout out to the bitchy wife *blows kiss* i took a 2 day break after bc she did kinda kill my vibe and my confidence but then I said fuck it! I got absolutely intoxicated on the last night and sang my little heart out. The British guys were such good performers! I loved watching them the days I went. I signed my cousin up and he was so drunk he couldn’t read the song. Videos are available upon request (sorry Dustin). He was mad at me for like 12 hours.
Chapter Italy: okay, so Venice was definitely a tourist hating community, very judgy and slightly snobby. BUT it was super annoying seeing people walking around with selfie sticks constantly recording and such, so I honestly can’t blame them. Aside from staring problems, I enjoyed my experience there and YES I had the best spaghetti of my life. The wine was, well I drank it even though I don’t like wine. So that says something.
Honestly, it was the best trip of my life and I’ll carry the memories with me forever. I’ve also learned Dustin and I are the best cousin combo bc well, we are instigators for eachother. 10/10 recommend being besties with your cousin. I’m lucky to have bestie cousins on both sides of my family.
This was truly an eye opening experience. Sometimes we get so lost in our day to day life and don’t see how lucky we really are. Life was lived so differently over there. I talked to a girl on my flight and realized, my problems REALLY are first world problems. I have it very good, granted I worked very hard to get where I am, still I’m fortunate and not everyone has the same opportunities as I/we do. I hope I can adapt some of the things I liked about other cultures into my day to day life. Like SLOWING THE EFF DOWN. We live so fast pace in America. Life and personal experience is appreciated so much more in Europe it seems.
Anyways, this was a once in a life time trip and I am so happy I got to do this after years of waiting. Until my next adventure.
